ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Lisa.
I never know how to start talking about myself, so I’ll start with the reason Confidently Solo exists.
Divorce.
After 36 years of marriage, I found myself single at 56 years old. Solo travel wasn’t something I had planned for my life, but it became one of the greatest gifts I never expected.
A few weeks after I filed for divorce, I booked my first solo trip. I needed to prove to myself that I could still travel, even if I was doing it alone.
Two months later, I was wandering the Swiss Alps, completely on my own. That trip changed everything!
It gave me confidence I didn’t know I still had. It brought healing when I needed it most. And it reminded me that my life wasn’t ending. It was simply taking a different path.
Here’s something I want you to know. I wasn’t born adventurous, fearless, or naturally confident. I wasn’t an experienced solo traveler who had been doing this for years. I was exactly where you might be right now, wondering if I could really do it.
That’s why I created Confidently Solo.
I’m not here to show you a glamorous travel lifestyle or convince you that solo travel is always easy. I’m here to show you that ordinary women can do extraordinary things, one trip at a time.

How I Travel
I don’t travel full time.
I don’t work remotely from tropical beaches.
I live in Florida and work a regular full-time job as an administrative assistant in a school. I’ve worked in education for around 30 years, which means my trips are planned around school breaks, holidays, limited PTO, and a budget.
Like many of my readers, I have to make every vacation day count.
I’m always looking for ways to stretch my travel budget. I use points and miles, watch for flight deals, and spend plenty of time researching before I book anything. But when it comes to a once-in-a-lifetime experience, I’m also willing to save up and splurge.

Everything you see on Confidently Solo is real.
Almost every photo on this website was taken by me with nothing more than my iPhone.
I don’t travel with expensive camera gear, professional photographers, or a suitcase full of outfit changes. You’ll usually find me in comfortable clothes, practical shoes, and rarely in a dress because that’s simply not me.
Some days my hair cooperates. Some days it definitely doesn’t. I wear little or no makeup when I travel because that’s never been part of my everyday life.
What you see is what you get.
I want this website to feel like you’re traveling with a friend, not following someone with a perfectly curated social media feed.

When I’m not planning my next trip, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family.
I’m also a proud grandmother of two, and they remind me every day that life is meant to be lived, explored, and enjoyed.
Whether I’m wandering through Christmas markets in Germany, exploring Southeast Asia, or helping another woman book her very first solo trip, my goal is always the same.
I want you to feel confident enough to go.
Because solo travel isn’t about being fearless.
It’s about discovering that you’re far more capable than you ever imagined.
